Playwright in the Classroom

Students across the state experience hands-on creative writing exercises led by a working playwright. Through the use of critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem solving activities, students learn how to create a one-act play while exploring their creative potential. John Walch brings his unique skills as a professional playwright to this dynamic program. John’s plays include THE DINOSAUR WITHIN, CIRCUMFERENCE OF A SQUIRREL, THE NATURE OF MUTATION, JESTING WITH EDGED TOOLS, CRAVING GRAVY OR LOVE IN THE TIME OF CANNIBALISM, ALICE THREW THE LOOKING GLASS (a parody of Strunk and White’s The Elements of Style), as well as numerous one-acts, collaborations, and shorts.   He lives in New York City, where he is a resident playwright at New Dramatists.
