ANDALUCÍA SABOR 2019 BRINGS TOGETHER 32 MICHELIN STARS AND MORE THAN 50 SPEAKERS

The VII edition of the Andalusia Taste Congress International Fine Food Exhibition, ‘Raices of Quality,’ will be held from September 23 to 25 in the Al-Andalus hall of the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses of Seville(FIBES I).

Ángel León and Dani García, chefs of the two Michelin-starred restaurants in Andalusia, join a poster of 54 speakers from eight nationalities (Spain, Austria, Morocco, Great Britain, Switzerland, Holland, Peru, and Japan), in front of the 40 of the previous edition.

A total of 32 Michelin stars by Andoni Luis Aduriz, Francis Paniego, Juanlu Fernández, José Álvarez, José Carlos García, Mario Sandoval, Pedro Sánchez, Paco Morales, Kisko García, Julio Fernández, among other Andalusian and national chefs. Portugal will be represented by two Michelin-star chef Hans Neuner of the Ocean Restaurant in the Algarve.

This year’s Congress increases the participation of Andalusian professionals both in number (38 in total compared to 31 last Congress) and in recognition since 13 of these speakers represent establishments recognized with Michelin stars. Likewise, this edition aims to make visible the increasingly crucial female role in the gastronomy and catering sector, with eight women speakers, four of them, work in Andalusia.

On the other hand, the presence of Spanish chefs from outside the Andalusian autonomous community is also increased in this Congress, from nine in the VI edition to 11 (seven of them with Michelin-starred restaurants).

Within the program of presentations of the VII Congress Andalusia Taste International Fine Food Exhibition, where all the Andalusian provinces are represented, such typical products of our region such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) or wine, with the participation, will have a unique role of expert tasters and sommeliers.

The linking of the quality of Andalusian agri-food and fishery products with their production areas is present in the motto of the VII Gastronomic Congress Andalusia Taste, ‘Quality Roots,’ which emphasizes the excellence of the raw material that constitutes the main trick of our kitchen.

Andalusia is a land that is characterized by the diversity and excellence of its agri-food and fisheries productions, as evidenced by more than 60 quality figures that recognize the excellent work of professionals in the sector.

Therefore, the objective of this year’s Congress is precisely to value Andalusian agri-food and fishery products with differentiated quality, with particular emphasis on those quality figures linked to the origin (such as Protected Designations of Origin (PDO), Protected Geographical Indications (PGI), Integrated Production and Ecological Production.
